Paul Richard Haines 8 June 1970 – 5 March 2012

The Australian dark fiction community lost one of its brightest stars yesterday when Paul Haines lost his long battle with cancer. He was 41. He is survived by his wife, Jules, and daughter, Isla. All of us at Thirteen O’Clock would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family.

Paul’s work was seminal and unique. You can see our review of his latest collection, The Last Days Of Kali Yuga, here. Paul’s previous collection, A Slice Of Life, is available from The Mayne Press. All proceeds from this book originally went to help finance Paul’s fight with cancer, and all proceeds from future sales will continue to go to Jules and Isla.

Speculative fiction in this country has lost a great talent. Vale Paul Haines.
